03:14 - Dancing Men (part I)
06:40 - Drum solo
08:15 - Dancing Men (part II)
Upscaled to 2160p@60fps resolution with AI technology (which is confused by Dennis Chambers' curly hair) + remastered audio.
Source: DVD by DCI Music Video Inc., 2006
The source is not only low resolution but also low quality and over compressed video with badly recorded audio, so don't expect a miracle. The audio remaster was focused on the drum set and the bass.
The second solo is truly one of the most underrated drum solos in history. The shit he's doing with his feet alone is just, so far ahead of its time..
Agreed
Dennis is without equal in my mind. The stuff he could do in his younger days defies belief. His hand speed alone is off the charts.
His feet work is great but not ahead of his time. You just don't listen to swing or big band from the 40s and 50s. Some drummers back then were crazy with triplets, quads, double bass and one handed fills way before metal discovered it.
@@RGibson-z6r any examples??
@@RGibson-z6r Rufus Jones Sonny Payne. Anyone else? Louis Bellson never really went t all in double pedal.
His H-Hat foot work is off the charts! Geez!
No one else can sound like that, the way he hits that snare is signature damn this guy flys
Yeah …. ok He “BAD too ! Drummer !!!
I play “ a little bit “ i know one When I “ SEE ONE “ !!
Watched a few of these amazing drum clips from this wonderful memorial concert.
However.......
Is it just me, or am I more in awe of ONE band and ONE bassist keeping up with so many drummers?
Just watched the 35th anniversary podcast earlier today. Dennis mentioned that he learned this song on the plane, traveling to this gig. Dude's a freaking legend.
Hi, Ryan! Which podcast are you referring to?
I wonder how, considering DC doesn't read music
@@arsonne Right?! It's almost like he'd have to find some other way to learn a song. If only some other way existed.
@@Savignylol The 35th anniversary of the 1989 Buddy Rich Memorial Concert podcast. It was Vinnie, Gadd, Weckl, Dennis, Gregg Bisonette, and a couple of other guys.
@@ryancox5097 Yeah I'm sure he listened on his walkman or something but it speaks to how uncommonly good Dennis' memory is to be able to listen to something and with presumably only a rehearsal or two be ready to play it.
I'm not a drummer but I'm in ABSOLUTE AWE at this man's Timing....Those accents with the band as they played were beyond Phenomenal!!!! 😮 🥁🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎶
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Anyone listening to that bass player? He's killing it.
I had the honor meeting this man back in 2002 in São Paulo, Brasil and it was one of the best moments of my life ever!!! His talent, I mean his monster technique and the way he suits to the music he's performing is an absurd!!!
Beautiful tunings of each drum and brilliant cymbal array-a symphony of pure bliss and power.
Fantastic! When Chambers plays it just all seems to come natural without even working up a sweat.
The way he comes back in at 8:08 is absolutely filthy
Dennis Chambers great musician
He knows he's owning it 😉👍🏆🥁

I can honestly say after hearing 1 minute of this wonderful memorial tribute to Buddy Rich. it's tremendous musical inspiring value. Thank you Paul and Steve .
I love how every famous drummer has played a Buddy Rich memorial concert 🤣🤣🤣
Dennis Chambers is nothing less than super human. I'd be lucky just to stand next to this guy.
I met him in Oakland before a show. Super chill guy, gave me an autograph, let me hang with him and John Blackwell before the show. I was a wide eyed 25 yr old at the time.
I stood behind his kit at a gig with Wooten. It was cool. I'd recommend it
@@colinburroughs9871 Pft . . . that's incredible! To be near those two men is an extreme honor! Wooten is in his own category of bass musicians. :)
@@Mcgovern124 You are one lucky human!
Probably my favorite living drummer.
Love the sound of Dennis snare
Ditto!
❤❤❤ DENNIS NEVER DISAPPOINTS
Dennis is a good drummer wow
Dennis Chambers is BAD MAN....
What a Power!! Great!!
Very big Memorial for Buddy!!!
This is the first Dancing man I´m dancing with :-) This is insane playing and I love it from the first hearing!
Dennis Chambers for president. ❤🌞
Aw man!! Dennis Chambers is 1 of my drummers of all that performance what he did is awesome!!
I've never heard a trombone player hit ghost notes in a solo. Well done sir.
Hugh Fraser
Fantastic! Well done with the remaster 👌
Awesome power and precision
You don't have to be locked into any style and still be able to be grateful for this piece of history...
those four on the floor bass drum is special - never heard anyone play it that loud
First time I see this Dennis video! Amazing
The drummers are great, but what about that bass player?!!! That dude is setting a pocket, too.
That’s Tom Warrington. He was one of buddy’s many bass players and taught a UNLV for many years.
I thought that was jeff berlin🤷♂️🤷♂️
That was wild. Excellent!! Thank you for posting this video.
Dennis is a true master.
I didnt realize his hand action was so clean. He goes from Trad to matched a lot...His ride sounds like a ping, not a jazz ride but its cool...I didnt realize how clean he played...very cool video!
best trombone solo I've ever seen
Very Rusty 👍
Check out Dennise playing to a TOOL song where he hears it one time with the drums left out and then he adds his interpretation and it's close to Danny's playing but it's still all DC.
ledies & gentlmen: Mr. Dannis Chambers! Chapeau
Marcus is great on that Sax
Bravo Denis 😊🥳🥳🥳
THE BUS TAPES!!!
😅😅😅
Thanks dude, great work!
Monster!!!!
Brilliant work - a classic just got better 👏
Absolute legend.
He’s swinging on an earth ride
Man, Tony Marcus on sax is a monster!!!
Steve Marcus
El ritmo en las venas!!!
Ice Cube a great drummer!
😂
You can t fuck with dennis chambers on drums, his hand speed is insane.
Me: thanks for coming to the audition, can you play Dennis Chambers?
Drummer: never heard of him, but I know lots of Phish.
Me: you have exactly 3 seconds to get the **** outta my sight.
Amazing
en iyi davulcu Buddy Rich, diğerler asla yaklaşamazlar Buddy Rich'e
No Tom suspension , no yess mounts, Just normal. Sounds great
Alot of great drummers but not one could top the master,BUDDY RICH!!
Disagree - BR was all about BR - he played fast chops and rudiments at 100mph but that was it.. no real flair to his solos imo just the same thing every time every tune culminated with a 20 minute solo. It was never about the music but all about Buddy Rich.
@@nchcroy3877That's not true. Have you ever actually watched a Buddy Rich concert? He would play one extended drum solo per concert which was often during the West Side Story medley. That's where he would pull out his set pieces.
Due to the numerous versions of that solo on RUclips, many people think that solo is all he was about.
Of course other tunes were written and arranged to feature the drums and drum breaks, but Buddy was one of the greatest time keepers and accompanists to ever drive a big band.
He featured all of his musicians and when it came time for them to solo he gave them ultimate time and swing to support them.
He was all about the music.

Buddy Rich was my favorite until Billy Cobham came along. Nuff said.
@@vaughnmiller4371it was Steve Gadd for me😊
That sound..!
swinging Dennis chambers
That’s a very tight tuning on his snare drum..
Wow!
Yep , great stuff !
Number one also in sympathy
How come the whole band missed their cue at around 08.25 and he had to count them back in? Absolutely nuts drumminh all the way through.
It was at around 8:14 seconds and they didn't miss the cue. He played his solo for as long as he wanted to and brought the rest of the band in with the count.
Sorry but you’re wrong. As mentioned above, he played the solo as long as he wanted to and counted the band back in. This is how it was rehearsed. @@henrireichmann7595
No one missed a cue. Dennis probably told them in rehearsal that he would count them back in when he was done with his solo. This is a standard practice when inserting a solo in a performance.
Maybe Dennis told Steve he would do this so as to not have to count bars
WOW!
Any body know what ride cymbal he is using??🔥🔥🔥🔥
Zildjian Avedis 22" Earth Ride Brilliant (probably)
Damn.
Просто класс!
いや、これ何が凄いかって、デニスチェンバースが凄いのは誰もが分かりますが、肝はこのベースのおっさんですね!!このドライブ感、グルーヴ、どなたですか?凄すぎ。
Damn, that bass drum. He's even better than Senri Kawaguchi.
Don’t get me wrong chambers is killing it in this video. But why is he feathering the bass drum so damn loud?
My opinion is, this is Big Band concept, in this concept BD should be louder than the Quartet or trio format. But thats a bit more loud, i think its about the Denis’s playing style. Hes more like a fusion drummer and they use BD louder. Actually similarly i noticed that HH pedal is always counts all the quarter notes i think thats more weird for me. But hes a legendary player , if he feel that way thats OK
Because that’s him just playing his own style. Frankly, it’s all about the drums in this concert so, I get it. But yeah, technically, he should’ve been dynamically softer with it.
yeeeeeeeeeeee
Best ive seen!!!
So what ride cymbal is he playing? Sounds great very clean.
I'm pretty sure it's a Zildjian Earth Ride in brilliant finish. Don't make them anymore.
What's the first song called ?
Gosh! What was that ride??
It’s an A Earth Ride from Zildjian.
👏🏾✨👏🏾✨👏🏾✨
Did´nt know Ice Cube played Drums besides NWA
Best forever
Transpoiting
I had no idea that Ice Cube played the drums
Anyone know what that ride is? Stick for DAYS
I think it's a zildjian earth ride
Guys as much as i love Dennis, he can't swing!
Correct. He’s just doing the best he can here.
3:15
4:34
5:49
6:39
That’s a lot of kick.
This guy is good, but Buddy wasn't flash, he DROVE the band, not only technically without par, but he DROVE the band. Never once looked at camera or audience, only occasionally at the band if they were a little tardy. We were 2nd table Ronnie Scott's summer 1981. Never forget that night but it was not even Buddy at his peak. Carl Palmer was fast and had incredible snare technique but Buddy was better, and a band leader. Sorry modern dudes but the sound of his snare attack on that night never leaves me - it was all-time - not harsh - not aggressive - just sonorous, dominant and up in your soul.

Thank Yoo ! George Clinton for this gem !
I heard he is self taught.
I don't know why this ordinary looking snare is so punchy.
Effortless

Metallica tiene canciones largas si lo se pero pasan porque ellos tiene energía power coraje estylo por eso no aburren
lost ton weight
Denis doesn’t know how to play jazz.
no, he knows how to play jazz. You are very wrong.
@ nah he doesn’t. He’s said that he can’t read music. All he’s doing is noise but because he’s doing it fast then he’s kinda following it. But in reality he’s lost.
The way he takes the applause at the end 😂 Thanks @_bencebacsi_ for this video. Didn't expect a miracle but think I just witnessed one
Just eternal...
Que dire ?
