It isn't weird at all, especially if you consider the background. They are extremely religious, the children absolutely have no access to porn. They don't go to school to learn about sex ed. Their mother is extremely strict in that regard. Plus they are 15-16 yrs of age ( still pretty young ) . I have known people who didn't have any such restrictions yet didn't know anything about sexual stuff. It is quite plausible.
