      Haha yesss! Now that’s the adventure vibe - drifting on the water like the guy from Life of Pi, just you, the waves, and maybe a tiger (okay, maybe not the tiger 😅). Let’s get you that perfect boat and set sail into cinematic glory!

    • @TravelsTube1918
      @TravelsTube1918  11 дней назад

      Haha, now that’s the real question! 🐅🚤 Technically, a strong enough boat could support a tiger-but let’s break it down:
      An adult Bengal tiger can weigh around 200-300 kg (440-660 lbs). So, you'd need a very sturdy, well-balanced boat with a solid frame (definitely reinforced, not just plastic drums!) and enough buoyancy to handle that weight plus yours. Also, you’d need it to be wide enough so it doesn’t tip over the moment the tiger shifts its weight... or gets hangry. 😅
      So yes, possible in theory - but you’d basically be building a floating fortress. Want to try it? Should we draw up "Tiger-Class Boat" blueprints?

      Haha ouch, got us there! 😅 You make a fair point though - definitely something to think about. Reusing plastic can be a win if done right, but yeah, if it breaks down and ends up in the water, that’s bad news for nature.
      Maybe the next version should focus on sealing and reinforcing the drums properly-or even better, exploring eco-friendlier materials. Appreciate you calling it out - sustainability matters!

      Thank you! 😊 Making boats from plastic drums is actually a clever and cost-effective way to repurpose waste while tackling both pollution and transportation challenges, especially in flood-prone or waterlogged areas.
      Here’s how it typically works:
      Materials Used: The core components are large plastic drums (usually 200-liter barrels), which are lightweight, buoyant, and durable. These drums are often salvaged from industrial waste. Along with the drums, people use wooden planks or metal frames to create a stable structure for seating and support.
      Assembly: The plastic drums are securely fastened to the underside of the frame - usually in pairs on each side - to provide balance and keep the boat afloat. The structure is tied or bolted tightly, ensuring the drums don’t shift during use. Sometimes ropes, nails, and additional waterproof materials are used for reinforcement.
      Purpose: These boats are often built in areas with limited resources for formal transportation. They help with tasks like reaching remote areas, transporting goods, or even helping with cleanups, especially in canals or flooded streets.
      Eco Impact: It’s a win-win - plastic waste gets reused creatively instead of clogging drains or polluting rivers, and communities gain a practical solution for mobility. While it's not a long-term fix for plastic pollution, it's an innovative step that highlights how resourcefulness can bring both environmental and social benefits.
      So yes - Good job to the folks thinking outside the box and turning trash into tools. With support, these ideas could scale up and make an even bigger difference! 💪🌍

      ¡Tienes toda la razón! Este tipo de bote está más pensado para transporte ligero, como personas o cosas livianas. Para cargas pesadas, troncos o cosas puntiagudas, se necesitaría reforzar bien la base o usar materiales más resistentes para evitar perforaciones. Muy buen punto - ¡gracias por el comentario constructivo!

    Plastic drums don't necessarily have a long life as a rule. Subject to heat and time, the plastic material will become brittle and break apart as all plastics do until time and heat, At which time, stepping on the plastic might crack & being brittle would discover a hole and leak. If they fiberglass the underbottem, it might last longer but even take can break given time, heat and enough force of hitting something hard like rocks.

      Absolutely spot-on analysis! 💯👏 You’re bringing the real talk that every DIY boat builder needs to hear.
      Plastic drums might look tough now, but as you said, UV exposure, heat, and time are their worst enemies. Over the years, that plastic loses flexibility, becomes brittle, and then-crack!-one wrong step or bump, and you're sinking instead of sailing. 🚤💦
      Fiberglassing the underside? Great idea for reinforcement, but even fiberglass isn’t invincible-especially if you're slamming into rocks or dragging the boat over rough terrain. It helps, but nature (and time) always wins eventually.
      So yeah, for short-term use in calm waters, these builds are clever and resourceful. For long-term reliability and safety? Definitely need reinforcements, regular checks, and probably a backup plan just in case that drum decides it's done being a boat. 😅🔧⛑️
      Appreciate the thoughtful insight-you clearly know your stuff!

      Haha okay okay, I hear you, brother! 😅 You’re right - the woods in Southeast Asia hit different! Super dense, resistant, sometimes even naturally water-resistant like teak or ironwood. Not your average “Home Depot” lumber, that’s for sure. 🌳🔥

    Having been a woodworker most of my life, their design and carrying it out was very nice. But also I saw no reason not to use screws. Tacks and nails will loosen. The structural integrity will diminish rather quickly, particularly if used very much. All other materials should work fine.

    • @TravelsTube1918
      @TravelsTube1918  2 месяца назад

      "Thank you for sharing your perspective and expertise as a woodworker! I completely understand your point about screws offering better long-term structural integrity compared to nails or tacks, especially for projects that will endure frequent use. I imagine screws might also allow for easier repairs down the line. It’s great to hear your thoughts on the design and material choices-it’s always valuable to learn from someone with extensive experience in the craft!"

    • @TravelsTube1918
      @TravelsTube1918  11 дней назад

      Yooo, you’re 100% right! 🔥 Plastic welding would take his game to the next level. That sealant might hold up for now, but over time? Sun, water, and flexing will wear it down, and boom-leak city. 💦
      Why Plastic Welding Wins:
      Stronger, permanent bonds - it fuses the material, not just sticks it.
      Better resistance to heat, pressure, and time.
      No worries about sealant peeling, cracking, or degrading.
      If he adds plastic welding skills to his toolbox? Man’s gonna be unstoppable - watertight for years. 🔧🔥 Time for an upgrade, builder bro!

    you should be using screws and some kind of dowel or rivet

    • @TravelsTube1918
      @TravelsTube1918  11 дней назад

      Absolutely! 💯 You’re speaking the language of solid construction right there. 🔧
      Screws + Dowels or Rivets = Stronger, Safer, Longer-lasting Build
      Here’s why your approach is spot-on:
      Screws give you that tight, adjustable hold - easy to reinforce or replace if needed.
      Wooden dowels or metal rivets distribute stress way better than screws alone, reducing the chance of splitting or loosening over time.
      Rivets, especially with washers, are clutch for plastic or metal parts - no backing out, no wiggling loose.
      Bonus: Adding adhesive or sealant in combo with these? Chef’s kiss for waterproofing and strength. 👌
      This kind of build isn’t just about floating-it’s about lasting, and you’re clearly thinking ahead. Respect for that craftsmanship mindset! 🙌🚤

    I need price how much ?

    • @TravelsTube1918
      @TravelsTube1918  11 дней назад

      Good question! The price can vary a lot depending on materials and location, but here’s a rough idea for a DIY plastic drum boat build:
      Basic Cost Estimate (USD - Approximate):
      Item Price Range (each/unit)
      Plastic Drums (2-4 pieces) $20-$50 each (used/new)
      Wood for Frame $50-$100 total
      Screws, Adhesive, Fasteners $20-$30
      Waterproof Sealant/Paint $15-$40
      Optional Fiberglass/Resin $50-$100 (for reinforcement)
      Labor (if buying pre-built) Varies, $100-$300+
      DIY Total:
      Roughly $150-$300 for a basic, homemade boat.
      Pre-made or Custom-built:
      If someone’s building and selling them, prices could range from $300-$800+, depending on quality, size, and features.
      Do you want to build one yourself or are you looking to buy one ready-made? I can help find more info based on your location! 🌍🚤

    مانوع الخشب الذي تستخدمه

    • @TravelsTube1918
      @TravelsTube1918  11 дней назад

      سؤال ممتاز! 🌟
      إذا كنت تتحدث عن صنع القوارب البسيطة مثل هذه، فغالبًا ما يتم استخدام أنواع خشب متوفرة محليًا، لكن الأنسب لصناعة القوارب هم الأنواع المقاومة للماء والرطوبة، مثل:
      1. خشب التيك (Teak)
      مقاوم طبيعي للماء والحشرات
      قوي ومتين
      مثالي للقوارب، لكنه غالي الثمن
      2. الماهوجني (Mahogany)
      مقاوم جيد للرطوبة
      سهل التشكيل
      يستخدم كثيرًا في القوارب الكلاسيكية
      3. البلوط الأبيض (White Oak)
      قوي ومتين
      مقاوم للتآكل بالماء
      يستخدم في هياكل القوارب
      4. خشب المارين بلاي (Marine Plywood)
      خشب رقائقي معالج ضد الماء
      خفيف وسهل الاستخدام
      ممتاز للقوارب الصغيرة والمشاريع اليدوية
      لو القارب مصنوع من براميل بلاستيكية كما في بعض المشاريع، يتم استخدام الخشب فقط للدعامة والإطار، فيمكن استخدام أي خشب قوي ومتوفر، مثل خشب الصنوبر أو الكافور، مع حماية جيدة ضد الماء (دهان أو ورنيش مقاوم).
      هل تفكر في بناء قارب بنفسك؟ 🚤🛠️
