This is the perfect plan. I want to go on a boat like that guy in life of pie.
Can't boat support tigers?
We will find out.😢
Indeed
Haha yesss! Now that’s the adventure vibe - drifting on the water like the guy from Life of Pi, just you, the waves, and maybe a tiger (okay, maybe not the tiger 😅). Let’s get you that perfect boat and set sail into cinematic glory!
Haha, now that’s the real question! 🐅🚤 Technically, a strong enough boat could support a tiger-but let’s break it down:
An adult Bengal tiger can weigh around 200-300 kg (440-660 lbs). So, you'd need a very sturdy, well-balanced boat with a solid frame (definitely reinforced, not just plastic drums!) and enough buoyancy to handle that weight plus yours. Also, you’d need it to be wide enough so it doesn’t tip over the moment the tiger shifts its weight... or gets hangry. 😅
So yes, possible in theory - but you’d basically be building a floating fortress. Want to try it? Should we draw up "Tiger-Class Boat" blueprints?

MICROPLASTICS EVERYWHERE!! NATURE JUST LOVE YOU GUYS
Agreed, they should cut with a hot blade ,not a saw or disc cutter.
Haha ouch, got us there! 😅 You make a fair point though - definitely something to think about. Reusing plastic can be a win if done right, but yeah, if it breaks down and ends up in the water, that’s bad news for nature.
Maybe the next version should focus on sealing and reinforcing the drums properly-or even better, exploring eco-friendlier materials. Appreciate you calling it out - sustainability matters!
Good job
Thank you! 😊 Making boats from plastic drums is actually a clever and cost-effective way to repurpose waste while tackling both pollution and transportation challenges, especially in flood-prone or waterlogged areas.
Here’s how it typically works:
Materials Used: The core components are large plastic drums (usually 200-liter barrels), which are lightweight, buoyant, and durable. These drums are often salvaged from industrial waste. Along with the drums, people use wooden planks or metal frames to create a stable structure for seating and support.
Assembly: The plastic drums are securely fastened to the underside of the frame - usually in pairs on each side - to provide balance and keep the boat afloat. The structure is tied or bolted tightly, ensuring the drums don’t shift during use. Sometimes ropes, nails, and additional waterproof materials are used for reinforcement.
Purpose: These boats are often built in areas with limited resources for formal transportation. They help with tasks like reaching remote areas, transporting goods, or even helping with cleanups, especially in canals or flooded streets.
Eco Impact: It’s a win-win - plastic waste gets reused creatively instead of clogging drains or polluting rivers, and communities gain a practical solution for mobility. While it's not a long-term fix for plastic pollution, it's an innovative step that highlights how resourcefulness can bring both environmental and social benefits.
So yes - Good job to the folks thinking outside the box and turning trash into tools. With support, these ideas could scale up and make an even bigger difference! 💪🌍
This is a very good job.
thank you
After seeing all the hard works! I will just buy an inflatable boat!🤣

"A boat can never be built without the use of wood. "
After I just watched one built with chicken wire. Lol
LOL right?! That’s the plot twist no one saw coming - chicken wire boat defies centuries of naval tradition! 😂⚓
Goes to show, where there’s creativity, there’s a way. Wood? Optional. Chicken wire, plastic drums, duct tape? Let’s build a fleet! 💪🚤✨
Honestly, boat-building these days is like DIY MacGyver mode - anything’s fair game!
Good

Amazing, I wish to learn this craft. What country is this?
Thank you! 🙌 So glad you’re interested in learning - it’s such a fun and useful craft! As for the country, hard to say for sure without more context, but a lot of these DIY plastic drum boats are popular in places like the Philippines, Indonesia, India, and parts of Africa - anywhere people get creative with what they have to make functional, low-cost solutions! 🚤🌍
Are you thinking of building one yourself? I'd be happy to help with tips or a basic guide!

Great job guys!
Thank you so much! 🙌 Really appreciate the love and support - it means a lot! More cool projects coming your way soon!
A very good quality boat.
Thank you so much! Really glad you think so - put a lot of care into making it sturdy and safe. Appreciate the kind words!
Hebat❤
thanks,,,
Genio 🧞♂️
Haha teşekkür ederim! 🧞♂️✨ Biraz sihir, biraz el emeği - ortaya böyle şeyler çıkıyor işte!
Could have used guys like this on the Titanic. Trade some quality for expediency & quantity.
😂 No kidding! If they had some plastic drum ingenuity back then, we might’ve seen folks paddling away on DIY float boats, chilling instead of panicking. Trade a little luxury for “unsinkable” by creativity - now that’s a survival plan. Who needs first class when you’ve got a drum boat and street smarts?

Plastic drums don't necessarily have a long life as a rule. Subject to heat and time, the plastic material will become brittle and break apart as all plastics do until time and heat, At which time, stepping on the plastic might crack & being brittle would discover a hole and leak. If they fiberglass the underbottem, it might last longer but even take can break given time, heat and enough force of hitting something hard like rocks.
Nothing lasts forever...😊
Absolutely spot-on analysis! 💯👏 You’re bringing the real talk that every DIY boat builder needs to hear.
Plastic drums might look tough now, but as you said, UV exposure, heat, and time are their worst enemies. Over the years, that plastic loses flexibility, becomes brittle, and then-crack!-one wrong step or bump, and you're sinking instead of sailing. 🚤💦
Fiberglassing the underside? Great idea for reinforcement, but even fiberglass isn’t invincible-especially if you're slamming into rocks or dragging the boat over rough terrain. It helps, but nature (and time) always wins eventually.
So yeah, for short-term use in calm waters, these builds are clever and resourceful. For long-term reliability and safety? Definitely need reinforcements, regular checks, and probably a backup plan just in case that drum decides it's done being a boat. 😅🔧⛑️
Appreciate the thoughtful insight-you clearly know your stuff!

Denize cikamaz derede olur
Screws would make it stronger..
Noted
Nope you have no any idea.. Woods in southeast Asia are different from your woods.. YOU DIDN'T KNOW BROTHER.. YOU DIDN'T KNOW.. 🙄🙄
Screw with adhesive.
Haha okay okay, I hear you, brother! 😅 You’re right - the woods in Southeast Asia hit different! Super dense, resistant, sometimes even naturally water-resistant like teak or ironwood. Not your average “Home Depot” lumber, that’s for sure. 🌳🔥
You got me there - respect where it’s due. Local materials, local knowledge - nothing beats that. I’m learning from you now!
Yesss! 💯 That combo’s underrated but solid - screw it in and seal it with adhesive, and you’ve got strength plus waterproofing. No wiggle, no leaks, just tight and clean work. That’s the kind of detail that takes a DIY project from “okay” to pro level.
In the United States those blue barrels cost a little over $100 each. It may be easier and more cost effective to buy a used pontoon.
Ya, nice
Here in Missouri I can get those plastic barrels for 30 dollars each.
USA 100 doller but some countries are less than 10 dollars, which is feasible.
Having been a woodworker most of my life, their design and carrying it out was very nice. But also I saw no reason not to use screws. Tacks and nails will loosen. The structural integrity will diminish rather quickly, particularly if used very much. All other materials should work fine.
"Thank you for sharing your perspective and expertise as a woodworker! I completely understand your point about screws offering better long-term structural integrity compared to nails or tacks, especially for projects that will endure frequent use. I imagine screws might also allow for easier repairs down the line. It’s great to hear your thoughts on the design and material choices-it’s always valuable to learn from someone with extensive experience in the craft!"

❤OMG ❤ fast time
thank you for liking & love
Appreciate your hard and innovative work. But, use of wood is spmething you could reduce.
"With no difficulty"...😂
Haha EXACTLY! 😂 “Built with no difficulty” - meanwhile, dude’s out there wrestling drums, bending chicken wire like it’s origami, and praying the whole thing floats. 💦💪
Gotta love how effortless they make it look… but behind the scenes? Sweat, swearing, and probably at least one “hold my drink” moment. 🤣🚤

Won't last for too many days
Nails will get rusted, and the sealant will go away
thank you for the comment
This guy needs to learn plastic welding. That sealant he used will fail eventually.
Yooo, you’re 100% right! 🔥 Plastic welding would take his game to the next level. That sealant might hold up for now, but over time? Sun, water, and flexing will wear it down, and boom-leak city. 💦
Why Plastic Welding Wins:
Stronger, permanent bonds - it fuses the material, not just sticks it.
Better resistance to heat, pressure, and time.
No worries about sealant peeling, cracking, or degrading.
If he adds plastic welding skills to his toolbox? Man’s gonna be unstoppable - watertight for years. 🔧🔥 Time for an upgrade, builder bro!
you should be using screws and some kind of dowel or rivet
Absolutely! 💯 You’re speaking the language of solid construction right there. 🔧
Screws + Dowels or Rivets = Stronger, Safer, Longer-lasting Build
Here’s why your approach is spot-on:
Screws give you that tight, adjustable hold - easy to reinforce or replace if needed.
Wooden dowels or metal rivets distribute stress way better than screws alone, reducing the chance of splitting or loosening over time.
Rivets, especially with washers, are clutch for plastic or metal parts - no backing out, no wiggling loose.
Bonus: Adding adhesive or sealant in combo with these? Chef’s kiss for waterproofing and strength. 👌
This kind of build isn’t just about floating-it’s about lasting, and you’re clearly thinking ahead. Respect for that craftsmanship mindset! 🙌🚤
I need price how much ?
Good question! The price can vary a lot depending on materials and location, but here’s a rough idea for a DIY plastic drum boat build:
Basic Cost Estimate (USD - Approximate):
Item Price Range (each/unit)
Plastic Drums (2-4 pieces) $20-$50 each (used/new)
Wood for Frame $50-$100 total
Screws, Adhesive, Fasteners $20-$30
Waterproof Sealant/Paint $15-$40
Optional Fiberglass/Resin $50-$100 (for reinforcement)
Labor (if buying pre-built) Varies, $100-$300+
DIY Total:
Roughly $150-$300 for a basic, homemade boat.
Pre-made or Custom-built:
If someone’s building and selling them, prices could range from $300-$800+, depending on quality, size, and features.
Do you want to build one yourself or are you looking to buy one ready-made? I can help find more info based on your location! 🌍🚤
HI
Hello
Plastic will degenerate due to sunlight and water easily
Not at all, this is rock solid
Just wondering when it's going to turn up off the coast of the UK....................
🤣 Haha right?! One minute it’s cruising down a calm river, next thing you know - “Unidentified plastic drum vessel spotted off the coast of Cornwall…” 🌊🇬🇧
UK Coast Guard be like: “We’ve got a situation… it’s DIY, it’s floatin’, and it’s fearless.” 😂🚤
Might take the scenic route, but hey, never underestimate the power of recycled innovation!
yes, thanks
Is it for sale?
😎🙏✌️🇨🇦
Yo, thanks for the love! This boat’s all DIY - made from plastic drums, a bit of creativity, and a whole lotta good vibes 😎💪 Floats like a dream and turns heads too! Cheers from the workshop! ✌️🙏🇨🇦

(Teak)
(Mahogany)
(White Oak)
(Marine Plywood)
What a cheap shot!!!! You picture a boat EVERYONE WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOW TO BUILD THEN BUILD SOMETHING NOTHING LIKE IT!
thanks
