So, I realised too late that I say "luminosity" instead of luminance. I mean luminance, but I guess that's what happens when you work too much with luminosity masks ;)

I’ve been into photography for almost 14 years now. I know color theory, I know harmonies-actually, I know quite a lot. But you never stop learning, right? I’ve watched tons of videos and read a bunch about it, but honestly, your video really stood out. It was super helpful and reminded me of so many things I hadn’t thought about in a while. So thanks a lot for that, really appreciate it!

Great video, Mads! I find it interesting to see how the "cycles" of RUclips photographers work over the years. You seem to have kind of a fresh start, and while the content cannot change much, the videos are getting more professional and entertaining. Don't get me wrong, your content was always great, it's just interesting to see how you now grab the next generation of photographers!

With enough terrific tutorials like this, anyone interested in photography can, today, gather enough information to get started on a lifetime of bringing home the images you know are waiting for you to gather even if you don't have the $$ for photography school. All that is missing is personal feedback which many professional shooters offer online as well. Thanks for your time, care and instruction on this important topic.

Blue is the last colour in most Indo-European languages. The thinking is that there is only sea and sky, and only a few flowers in Nature, because you already have words for sky and sea, you don't need the additional colour word.

Oh, and I appreciate that you don't always put the people in your images in red or yellow. Thanks! Bookmarked. What follows is not a comment on your work, rather it’s where my mind wandered after watching your excellent video. 👍 I’m put off by landscape images when they’re edited to “perfection”. Especially the colors. People are too easily tempted to make, or are encouraged by how-to-edit tutorials to make all aspects of every image Spectacular! The natural world doesn’t work that way and “that’s how I envisioned it before I clicked the shutter” doesn’t change that fact. I’d rather the trend was toward revealing the realistic beauty of actually spectacular elements within the context of an otherwise well composed but naturally imperfect scene.

Thank you Mads, this was a really good, fun and informative video. Quite deep too in some parts hahaha. I have found out that I like strong colors towards red, pink, lilac and gold! Sounds strange but when l play with the Art modes and color profiles in my OM 3 and the my other OM cameras the results can be surprisingly interesting. They don’t always look natural but I like it, it becomes more like art and the fantasy almost flies away to Narnia

Hi Mads, here you present a very powerful explanation of how you use color in your photogrphy art works. It gives a deeper understanding of your mastery of colors in your compositions and how you add menaing to photographic works. Understanding these principles will help me to understand why I do appreciate lighting of the scenes I want to photograph and how to plan shooting or ..... just learn to oberve properly and develop my way of looking and capturing. Very interesting to philosophize. Thanks for your efforts to explain. Bert

Those colour blind charts are interesting. I mentioned something similar in one of Nigels recent videos when he was asking for video ideas. I suggested using optical illusions as a representation of how your brain sees images and how that might apply to composition.
I had one pop up in my feed that was a vertical framing of an angled path, doubled up side by side. Despite being identical, the one slanting towards the centre looked reasonable while the half pointing out of the frame looked like it was falling over.
    Brain failures are fun. :)

Mads, at 23:23 in the video there is a photo of a massive complex waterfall with multiple channels tumbling down to a river or sea loch. Two questions: 1. Where is this? I can't place it. 2. Who is the figure standing in the distance? You could not have walked there from the camera location, so if it is you, did you capture this with a drone? Thanks for another excellent video.

Hi Mads. I was really interested to hear you are slightly colour blind. I am and have issues through the whole spectrum. How do you know you have the colours right? I esp miss ones that have too much magenta in the greens until they are pointed out to me. When I correct them I instantly know they look better, but it is realising it to start with.
